General
Motors plans in 2011 to begin deliveries of cars produced in China for sale in the United
States. Currently,
GM manufactures cars in China for the Asian market, but plans to put the same cars for the
first time in America, to reduce production costs.
As the Dow
Jones Newswires, in 2011 the U.S. market will put 17,335 cars produced in China in 2012 -
38.000, and by 2013 to bring this number up to 53,000 pieces. Imports of
cars from South Korea, Japan, Mexico and some other countries should also increase with
time. These
measures - is part of GM's strategy to reduce costs, which also implies a reduction of
21,000 jobs in the United States. These
measures have been proposed by a group operating under the patronage of President Barack
Obama as part of a plan to restructure the American concern.
A spokesman
for GM said on Wednesday the 13th of May that is currently being negotiated between the
company and union workers automobile industry (United Auto Workers). For its
part, UAW, of course, protested strongly against such measures, and argues that GM,
surviving at the moment due to 15 billion dollar loan from the state should not use this
money to cut jobs in the United States.
